Accepting the caste census report has created the social unrest and the state government is all set to play with the fire, opined former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

He told reporters here on Friday that as the election was approaching the Congress Party which claims itself as the secular develops love on the caste and make false promises.

In 2017,the then CM Siddaramaiah had commissioned the social, economic and academic survey of all the castes. But the motive was different.

Since the case on the right of undertaking the caste census has been pending in the Supreme Court, Siddaramaiah ordered for the social, economic and education study of all the castes and created confusion.

Siddaramaiah was the CM when the Kantharaj report was ready but he didn’t accept it on account of the Assembly polls.

There were lot of confusion about the report at that time as the commission had claimed to have contacted 5.82 crore people but many of them had disputed that claim.

Know what report which had been given was a chow-chow report. While the data belonged to Kantharaj but Jayaprakash Hegde claims that this was his report. The CM has extended the tenure of the Jayaprakash Hegde commission only for the political reasons.

Not against caste census

Bommai clarified that he was not opposed to the caste census as the castes need to be uplifted based on the population, social and economic conditions.

For that reason the previous BJP government hiked the reservation for the SCs/STs.Why the government was trying to hush up yesterday’s census report as it needs to be deliberated in public.

As many as 150 castes were included into the backward classes category and reservation for them must be discussed.

The microscopic minority in the backward classes must get the benefit of reservation and other facilities. The CM must not use this report for the political gains as it would be a heinous crimes

Bommai said the government’s action has created unrest in the society and the ministers have raised objection.

Is there was no unity in the Cabinet? No commitment either?.

The government was playing a double game even in the caste census. It was not wise to play with the oppressed classes and create unrest in the society.

The report was prepared by someone but submitted by another person. While the CM received the report and it was opposed by other ministers.

The case on conducting the caste census has been pending in the Supreme Court and the central government would announce its stand after the court’s verdict.

Muslims not minorities

The BJP leader said according to the report which was received on Thursday, the Muslims account for 70 lakh and if so,how can they become minority? When their number was more than other castes the Muslims cannot become the Minority. The government owes a reply.

The former CM said he got information that the FSL has confirmed the raising of pro-Pakistan slogans in its report and also about they getting the support of terrorists.Reasons were not clear why the government was hushing up the FSL report,he questioned.
