The East Division cyber crime police have registered an FIR against unknown people who created a email id In the name of arch bishop trying to cheat the congregation for monetary gain.
Based on the complaint by Kanthraj J A,from the administrative office of the Bishop,the police have swung into action and trying to track down the accused.
The accused had created the Id in the name of Dr.Peter Machado (msgr.machado@gmail.com) in October last year and sending it to the different people in the congregation of the people attached to the church and the community with misleading information and also demanding money.
Many people have responded and one of them have also been cheated financially.The police have sought the details of the money transaction to track down the accused .
The church will inform the members of the church and community not to respond to any such email communication and clarify with the office .
