Gurukuls are a great opportunity for the poor to educate their children without any restrictions. If the children of the depressed classes get seats in the Gurukuls, their parents will be disappointed.
Moreover, 15 gurukulas sanctioned by the previous government have been suspended.
Jagan’s uncle has not
given funds for the construction of new buildings.
104 social welfare gurukulas have been established in Telangana

Gurukuls are a great opportunity for the poor to educate their children without any restrictions. If the children of the depressed classes get seats in the Gurukuls, their parents will be disappointed. The more new gurukulas like this, the better for the communities. Realizing this, the Telangana government has set up social welfare gurukuls for Dalit children. Telangana State had 134 social welfare gurukula schools/junior colleges at the time of its formation and 104 more in nine years. 30 women’s degree colleges have been specially brought up with the idea that their education should not stop with Inter. SC has increased the total number of Gurukuls to 268.
On the other hand, Jagan, who boasts that no one else has worked as hard as he did for their education, saying ‘Na SC.. Na SC’, is the only social welfare gurukulam that has been brought in during this four-year rule! If we stop at this, what is special about thinking of Jagan? TDP government sanctioned 15 new Gurukuls in February 2019… but they were not made available. The new degree colleges are fine. More than 90% of the Gurukula buildings constructed by the previous government were not completed in these four years.
What is the benefit of five ministers including the Deputy Chief Minister and 23 MLAs from SCs in the state? Finally, all the Gurukuls sanctioned by Social Welfare Minister Merugu Nagarjuna’s constituency could not be established.
SC Gurukuls of Telangana are the compass of the country
Telangana Gurukuls stand as a compass for the country. The number of social welfare gurukulas in the state increased from 134 to 268 (including degree women’s colleges) in nine years.
- In 2014, 64,230 SC students were studying in Gurukuls, and with the establishment of new ones, the number of students has now reached 1,52,345.
- The Telangana government has given top priority for the education of girls in SCs. Out of total 268 Gurukuls, 146 are related to girls. 30 degree colleges have also been set up for women only.
- It has set up 27 Centers of Excellence for the most talented among the Gurukuls to get seats in higher educational institutions.
- It has established an Armed Forces Preparatory Degree College for Women along with Fine Arts and Science School.
- Coding School, Earth School, Vocational School and Freedom Schools have been started.
- To monitor the health of the students in the Gurukuls continuously, a 24-hour Paneshia Health Center has been set up under the supervision of medical experts.
- Students of SC Gurukul are being sent abroad for internship.
- 30 SC Gurukula Women’s Degree Colleges have been set up after realizing that girls are drifting away from studies after Inter.
- Pharmacy, Law, Fine Arts and special colleges are running.
- The military school established by the SC Gurukulam at Rukmapur has recently come under the purview of the Ministry of Defence
- Student councils are being formed to develop students as leaders
- Summer camps are organized to provide skill training to students during summer vacations
Isn’t this what SC stands for? It is to give them good education and to give them the necessary skills to settle down in life and make them rise to a higher level. Telangana government is bringing many kinds of opportunities in front of SC students. Efforts are being made to make them the best.. But what is Jagan doing? Considering the SCs as just a vote bank… giving SCs what is applicable to all… they are saying ‘My SC, my SC’ as if they are the only one who is showing attention to them.
If TDP formed 15 Gurukuls.. Jagan brought only one
After the bifurcation of the state, there were 177 social welfare gurukuls in Andhra Pradesh and the TDP government took steps to increase their number for betterment of Dalit students. Between 2014-2019, 15 Gurukuls were established. Hundreds of crores were spent to build permanent buildings for them. SC has taken up structures with all facilities to save the children from the misery of rented buildings and partial accommodation. 100 crores of sub-plan funds were spent and buildings were constructed with all facilities. Some places were collected and constructions were taken up in Chintalapudi, Arugolanu, Sattenapalli, Kurichedu and Brahmangarimath and 60%-90% completed. Jagan’s mind does not agree to complete the rest and make better facilities available to Dalit children.
Tedepa’s forward step was blocked
The TDP government sanctioned 15 Gurukuls in February 2019. In terms of joint districts, Kotabommali in Srikakulam district, Gouripatnam in West Godavari district, Pasivedala, Peddapuram in East Godavari district, Vellatur, Narasayapalem in Guntur district, Narasa Raopeta, Vemuru, Kovilampadu in Prakasam district, Gottiprolu in Nellore district, KK Gunta, Patikonda in Kurnool district, Banaganapalle, Palamanda in Chittoor district, Anantapur district. In Somandepalle Orders were issued to establish Gurukulas. The administration has given permission to release Rs.33.50 crore for the construction of each gurukula. A total of Rs.502 crores has been spent on their construction. But when Jagan came to power, these proposals were cornered. Social Welfare Minister Merugu Nagarjuna could not bring Gurukula even in his own constituency. If a Gurukulam is formed, 680 students will benefit. If Jagan had established these 15 Gurukuls, 10 thousand people would have had an additional opportunity in one year. This calculation shows how many SC students have lost in the long run.
Can’t set up a website?
Telangana Government has set up a website with details of SC Gurukuls. But still there is no website for SC Gurukuls in Andhra Pradesh. Officials are not releasing any details. All confidential. Is this what transparent governance means? There is no record of appointing a single IAS officer to supervise these schools.
Proposals are in baskets
Jagan ‘s style of governance is clear from the way he is dealing with the SC Gurukuls. There is a great need for formation of new SC Gurukuls in the state. Every year, thousands of Dalit children apply for education in gurukuls and are disappointed not to get seats. There is good demand for seats from some districts. Some Vaikapa MLAs have sent proposals to the government on the formation of gurukulas. It also includes the proposals of some ministers. Some reported setting up separate degree colleges. All these are rubbish.
