Notorious habitual offender posing as mentally challenged get into crowded bus and steal mobile phones from women passengers arrested by Hosakote police

The Hosakote police on Wednesday arrested a 27-year-old habitual offender who posing as mentally challenged get into the crowded bus and steal mobile phones from women passengers .

The Accused identified as Syed,native of Chittoor in AP and living in Avalahalli with wife,is unemployed and took to stealing mobile phones and valuables .

He would sell the stolen phones to shop keepers and people known to him and spend money on his vices .

He is alcoholic and would visit pubs and hotels in metro cities and blew the money.

Based on a series of theft cases,a team of police led by Deputy Superintendent of Police,Shankargowda Annasaheb Patil,track down the accused based on the mobile tracking system and arrested him.

The accused had even accessed some of the phones and transferred the cash worth around Rs.2 lakh.

The police are now tracing the owners of the mobile phones to return their valuables said a senior officer.
