n a major crackdown on drug menace,the officials of Anti-Narcotics Wing of Central Crime Branch on Saturday arrested 14 drug peddlers operating in and around the city .
The police recovered synthetic drugs worth Rs.7.83 crore including Mephedrone which according to the city police commissioner,seized first time in the city .
Among the 14 peddlers,three are Foreign Nationals while the others are from odhisha,Kerala including Bengaluru city .
The accused have sourced the drugs from their native places and selling it to IT professionals and students. With this the police have crack down the drug network and efforts are on to track down their sources .
Cases registered at VarthurBanashankari, Vidyaranyapura,Cottonpet,and Kadugodi police stations,Bengaluru police commissioner B Dayananda said.
The police seized Mephedrone drug for the first time in Bengaluru.A total of 1,800 grams of Mephedrone was seized.The peddlers sold a gram of Mephedrone for Rs. 15,000,
Francis,a Nigerian citizen was caught with Mephedrone, cocaine,and MDMA worth Rs.1.8 crore. He entered India in 2012 sourced drugs from Mumbai and other countries,and sold it in the city.
The sleuths seized hashish oil worth Rs.1.3 crores and arrested four peddlers.The accused brought hashish oil from Andhra Pradesh and packed it in syringes for easy measurement.The accused have been identified as Suresh,Akshay,Aditya, and Saiee Chaithanya.
MDMA crystals worth Rs.1.05 crore were seized from foreigners named Thoru Mustafa and Enimo Peter. The accused stored drugs at a house in Vidyaranyapura.
The source of Mephedrone drugs is part of the ongoing investigation,Mr.B.Dayananda, said.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,B Dayananda has appreciated Addl CPs,as,Satheesh Kumar,Raman Gupta,DCP Crime-1,Abdul Aahad,DCP Crime-2,Srinivas Gowda and his whole team of Anti-Narcotics Wing who has done a tireless efforts in last few days and nabbed 14 Drug peddlers and busted a biggest drug haul in the city and first time seized Mephedrone drugs in the city a suitable reward will be given to whole team he added.
