The American space agency ‘NASA’ has announced that the experiment undertaken to produce oxygen on Mars has been successfully completed.
This is more than double the maxi-specified target of producing 122 grams in 16 batches
.. 98% purity

Washington: The American space agency ‘NASA’ has announced that the experiment to produce oxygen on Mars has been successfully completed. NASA has announced that the MAXI (Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment) instrument on the Perseverance rover has produced oxygen for the 16th time in its final run. “The test of converting carbon dioxide into oxygen on planet Aruna has been successful. It paves the way for manned missions to Mars,” NASA said on Twitter. According to the details disclosed by the company, Maxi has been producing oxygen since landing on Mars in 2021. This device separates each oxygen atom from the carbon dioxide molecules in the atmosphere through an electrochemical process. After that, the gases were analyzed and the quantity and purity of oxygen produced was tested. This device has produced a total of 122 grams of oxygen so far. This is more than double the target set for this experiment. The oxygen produced is 98 percent pure. NASA claims that this technology will enable astronauts to live on Mars and exploit its resources. The company revealed that its next focus is on building a complete system that can liquefy and store the oxygen produced by a Maxi-like device.
