74-year-old retired sub-inspector was arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly molesting a seven-year-old girl. He was charged with the POCSO Act.
The Shivajinagar police on Monday arrested a retired Police Sub-Inspector for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl.
Based on the complaint by the victim’s parents an FIR under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered and the accused identified as 74-year-old Abdul Hafeez was arrested.
The retired police officer who owns a property, had rented out one of the houses in the building where the survivor’s parents lived.
On Monday, the child had stepped out to pick up a toy when Hafeez took her to his house and sexually abused the minor girl.
After the girl’s parents came to know about the incident they rushed to the Shivajinagar police station and filed a complaint.Based on the complaint, the police arrested the accused.
It is alleged that when the minor’s father went to confront the accused landlord,he was threatened by his son,a policeman himself.
The victim’s father alleged that the retired sub inspector’s son told him to take some money and vacate the rented residence without revealing the incident to anyone.
A medical examination is being conducted for the accused and the victim.It is gathered that the retired sub-inspector’s son may be charged for threatening the girl’s father,and for attempting to conceal the crime.
Senior officer said that the accused had retired from the police department 14 years ago.
“On Monday,a case under POCSO was registered. Shivajinagar police have successfully arrested the accused.
During the interrogation so far we have found that the accused 74-year-old Abdul Hafeez committed the crime under the POCSO Act on a girl staying on rent with her parents,he added.
