Tomato truck thieves got arrested by RMC Yard Police

The RMC Yard police on Saturday arrested a couple from Vellore who along with three of their associates had robbed a tomato laden truck after abducting the farmer on the pretext of road rage fro ring road on July 8.

The victim,farmer from Hiriyuru in Chitradurga has filed a complaint with the police,based on which a special team of 20 members teams formed to track down the accused .

ams analyzed over 200 CCTV footage to identify the accused and arrested Bhaskar, 28 and his wife Sindhuja, 26 .

The police are on the lookout for three of their associates identified as Rakesh, Kumar and Mahesh who are on the run. Efforts are on to secure their arrest, Shivaprakash Devaraju,DCP, North Division, said .

Probe revealed that the accused were suspected to be part of the road robbery gang who confronted the farmer,who is heading to Kolar to sell his tomato load from Hiriyuru.

The accused on the pretext of damaging their vehicle tried to rob him but realizing that he did not have money changed the plan and decided to jack his truck .

As per the plan,they took him along with the truck , assaulted and pushed out on ring road before driving the 2 tones of tomatoes laden truck to Chennai where they sold it in the market and shared the money.

The truck the accused got back and abandoned near Peenya which the police recovered later.

However based on the CCTV footage which the police analyzed managed to zero in on Bhaskar and his wife and arrested.The police also recovered the car, the accused had used to commit the robbery.

The police have taken the couple into custody and investigating further to ascertain their criminal background and possible involvement in similar cases .
