Lahore: The situation in Pakistan has become worse. A recent report reveals that attacks and sexual abuse of children are increasing significantly. Moreover, it is noteworthy that most of the victims are boys. In the Punjab province alone, 70 percent of the cases of molestation registered in the first five months of this year were boys. Pakistan’s Punjab Home Ministry has released a latest report regarding sexual assaults on children. It revealed that the majority of the victims were boys.

Between January and May this year, 1,400 incidents of child molestation (rape) were recorded in the province of Punjab, of which 965 (70 percent) were boys. The remaining 30 percent are girls. “Sexual attacks on children are influenced by many factors. Patriarchy, poverty, illiteracy and social inequality are the causes of such attacks on children,” said the article of Pakistani magazine Dawn.
