In the last one week,the behaviour of the police at the station level has changed drastically as city police sending volunteers to the station with a complaints to rate the police based on their service .
A police officer in Southeast division swung into action and taken a suo-motu complaint following a minor fire accident reported on Saturday night.This is to avoid getting a show cause notice from his DCP, based on the feedback from the volunteers he gets.
As many as four police officials have been served notice and action has been taken against them with a remark in their service record .
“ I have seen a sudden change in the behaviour among the police who are more courteous when i visited the station to file a cheating complaint against ex employee of my client Adil of PR Ventures .The service offered were commendable and i was glad that the city police perception is going to change soon”,Yash Dhona a chartered accountant resident of Basavanagudi,said .
The idea behind is to take the citizen outreach program launched by Director General and Inspector General of Police, Dr.Alok Mohan.
As part of the program,volunteers have been sent to different police station with a complaint.They will observe the reaction of the police and whether complaint has been taken and report the matter.
Based on the complaint action will be taken against the officer concerned.If the police officer behave responsibly,he will be identified as rewarded too,a senior police officer,said.
It may be recalled that the Southeast division police launched Jana spandana program,unable people to rate the service rendered by the police personnel at the station and report it to the senior police officials,based on which the officials concerned are punished or rewarded .
The basic idea of this program,which is ongoing,is to ensure that the police are at the service of the people and should extend any possible help to resolve their issue .
The police personnel every time conveyed the message to convince them that they are public servant,but in vain.
When the senior police officers failed to convince the police officer,they have brought out a novel idea to confuse the police.
The police should act on every complaint they receive irrespective of the person is genuine or volunteer, another police officer, said.This way the quality of service is improved.
On Saturday,Mr.Alok Mohan chaired the crime review meeting held at city police commissioner officer to supervise the progress of the program.
As many as 20 police officers across the city has been issued show cause notice,based on their reply action will be initiated ,he said .
