he National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday conducted extensive searches at the houses of three absconding suspects in the case related to the murder of BJP Yuva Morcha member Praveen Nettaru by cadres of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in Karnataka last year.
Three locations were searched in two districts of Karnataka as part of NIA’s efforts to hunt down the absconders.
NIA seized several electronic gadgets and documents during the searches at the houses of Abdul Nasir and Abdul Rahaman in Kodagu district and Naushad in Dakshina Kannada district.
All three are suspected of harbouring the main assailants of Parveen Nettaru at various hideouts across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu State.
Besides the trio, five other accused are still absconding in the case, which NIA had taken over in August 2022.
A total of 21 persons, including the absconders, have so far been chargesheeted by NIA under various sections of UA(P) Act, IPC and Arms Act.
Nettaru was hacked to death on 26th July,2022 in Bellare village of Sullia Taluk at Dakshina Kannada district by PFI ‘Killer Squads’or ‘Service Teams’.
PFI has been indulging in such targeted ‘hate killings’ with the aim of driving a communal wedge and spreading communal hatred with its ultimate objective of establishing an Islamic Rule in India by 2047.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced that it will seize properties that belong to the two key accused in the Praveen Nettaru murder case in Karnataka if they failed to surrender before it by Friday.
The NIA has also offered cash rewards for information about the whereabouts of the absconding accused persons—Umar Farooq and Mustafa Paichar, both residents of Kallu Mutlu in Dakshina Kannada district.
Although the NIA has launched an all-out operation in Karnataka and Kerala to nab them, the two have remained elusive since the brutal murder of the BJP Yuva Morcha activist July 26, 2022.
NIA authorities have also posted notices on the houses and even made a announcement through mic in the area of the accused persons with regard to the seizure of their properties.
The probe agency had submitted evidence to an NIA court in Bengaluru and has sought consent for stringent action against the two accused persons.
The court Wednesday granted consent and released the order of confiscation of the properties of the two prime accused if did not surrender by Friday. The order was given Wednesday.
Efforts to track down the absconding accused are continuing.
