A 48 year old KSRTC electric bus driver was killed and as many as 25 passengers injured when the bus they were travelling collided with a plywood laden truck in Jayapura in Ramanagar on Wednesday.
The bus heading from mysore towards Bengaluru and the driver Ramesh in a bid to overtake the truck drove in a rash and negligent manager and lost control and collided.As a result the truck capsized and the plywood sheets crashed into the bus smashing the windshield.
Few plywood jammed the steering and Ramesh lost control and collided with the divider before jumping on the service road before ploughing into a nearby field .
The bus finally stopped between two electric poles . While Ramesh was killed on the spot the injured passengers taken to Ramanagar govt hospital for treatment.
Traffic was disrupted on the busy road as passengers along with the police rushed for rescue operations.
The bus luckily stopped between two electric poles had it been a crash,the casualties would have been more,a senior officer,who visited the spot said .
KSRTC and senior police police official visited the spot and conducting probe to ascertain the cause of accident .
It may be recalled that ADGP traffic and road safety,Alok Kumar along with senior police officials including IGP central,Dr BR Ravikanthe Gowda and Ramanagar SP, Karthik reddy along with NHAI officials visited the express way and chalked out strategies to minimize fatal accidents.
The police officials propose CCTV and police deployment to check over speeding vehicles.
