he Nandini Layout police on Thursday arrested a 38-year-old former nurse of a private hospital for assaulting an elderly woman with a club to render her unconscious to rob her gold chain at victim’s house on May 25.
Luckily the victim survived the attack and the police took up the robbery case and track down the accused who turned out to be a habitual offender .
Senior officer told reporters,the accused Lakshmi Ganga,approached the victim Shanthamma on the pretext of checking house for rent.
The accused befriended the gullible Shanthamma with her charm and even went along with her to the kitchen on the pretext of help.
While Shanthamma was busy in daily chores the accused picked up a clubbed and attacked on the head of Shanthamma.
A sharp blow on the head rendered Shanthamma unconscious following which Ganga removed 20 grams of gold chain worth Rs.80,000 and escaped.
The Nandini Layout police during the course of investigations analyzed over 50 CCTV cameras before zeroing in on Ganga and recovered the robbed gold chain.
Probe revealed that Ganga was involved in similar offence in Ashok Nagar last year.Ganga was working as nurse at a private hospital in Koramangala stolen the anesthesia from the hospital and planned to rob people using her expertise.
The accused posing as nurse went to St Philomina hospital and approached an elderly patient on the pretext of administering medicine,administer her anesthesia injection and escaped with the gold chain.
Based on the complaint,the Ashok Nagar police track down Ganga and remanded her to judicial custody.
After coming out of on bail,she continue with her criminal activities before she was arrested again.
The Nandini layout police are now checking her criminal background to ascertain her possible involvement in similar crimes.
