ix bikes burnt and few others sustained minor injuries in a fire accident triggered during Karpoora Arati in dharmaraya temple on Thursday.
The incident occurred at the Dharmaraya temple premises in Nagarathpet as part of the temple procession a huge quantity of camphor was kept for arathi and as soon as the fire lit it spread rapidly engulfing bikes parked on the sides of the road.
Luckily no major casualties have been reported in the incident.
Senior officer told reporters,huge amount of camphor kept in the burners along the lane on Sunkalpete road close to the temple and set it on fire as per the rituals led to the incident.
The police who were deployed for security though announced to remove the vehicles as part of security measures .
Few vehicles were parked on either side of the road started melting due to the heat.As a result nine vehicle partially damaged .
Sensing trouble the police doused the fire by getting water from nearby houses and used pipes to pump water to douse the fire .
Luckily except few superficial and minor injuries injuries,no one injured in the accident, a police official , said .
What worried the police that huge bundle of wires dangling on the road which could have cause short circuit at the house adjacent to the narrow lanes.
The temple management committee was earlier refused to the advise to not to use camphor citing tradition and rituals, but after the incident the police managed to convince them.
The temple management committee doused the fire and brought the situation under control.
