T he Girinagar police have arrested a 39-year-old conman from Andhra Pradesh for cheating a shop keeper and selling a metal bar as gold for ₹ 13 lakh.
Based on a complaint,the Girinagar police track down the accused identified as Gunji Shivashankar Rao alias Gold Shiva from his home town in Palnadu district in AP and arrested him.
The team recovered Rs.8 lakh,a hammer,a chopper and a motorcycle from the accused.
Explaining the Modus Operandi of the accused,the officer said that the Shivashankar used to get a metal bar with few grams of gold at the corner for his con act.
He would then approach the gullible people with a cook up story that he found the gold bar while digging the land for the basement of the construction house.
He would then cut and take away the corner of the bar in front of his prospective client to get it tested and proposed to sell the bar for a cheap price since he was in urgent need of the money.
Using this MO,the accused suspected to have cheated many people which we are now trying to ascertain by verifying his criminal background said a senior officer.
