New Year’s Eve: Over 8,500 cops to guard Bengaluru,New Year celebrations till 1 am across city: CH Pratap Reddy

A fter a gap of two years the city police geared up and deployed elaborate security arrangements with over 8500 police personnel deputed to ensure law and order for the new year celebrations till 1 am .

Briefing on the security arrangements, City Police commissioner,CH Pratap Reddy,said that the police have taken all precautionary measures to ensure public safety and law and order .

The Noise pollution committee armed with decibel meters will be out to check to monitor use of load speakers beyond permissible limits.

Use of load speakers at the party and at public places are allowed only till 12 am with permission from the authorities concerned.

Security also heightened at favorite places including Brigade road,MG road,Koramangala, Indiranagar and whitefield for crowd control and picketing points.

Apart from use of CCTV and drones and enforcement cameras,the city police have used software to map 1.7 lakh CCTV Cameras installed in and around the city which could be utilized in case of any eventualities and investigations,Mr. Reddy, said .

Though the Covid protocol is in place,people entering the public places and under security checks are advised to remove the masks for security purposes.

Apart from the city police have set up women safety islands and watch towers at the strategic locations.

The hospitals have also been roped in to provide dedicated beds for the inebriated people to keep them under medical watch,who were found with unruly behavior.

People with licensed weapons have been asked not to carry arms during celebrations and the hotels and party organizers have been advised not to allow people carrying arms.

City most sought after new year destination- Brigade Road will finally see full-fledged New Year celebrations with police made foolproof arrangements.

Apart from traffic restriction and one way traffic on brigade road on Friday.The entrance of MG road and brigade road will have Door frame metal detector (DFMD),and anti sabotage checks in place.

The city police have been instructed to keep an eye on the rave parties and drug peddling incidents and conduct special drive.

In December alone the city police have registered 547 cases under NDPS,arrested 637 people including six foreign nationals and recovered 344.7 Kgs of drugs.

Apart from this the traffic police have banned the movement of vehicles on all flyovers and on NICE road from 9 pm to 6 am except Airport flyover to contain incidents of drag racing,rash and negligent driving and drunken driving .

All types of vehicles movements and parking in the CBD areas including in MG road,brigade road, church street,rest house road and Museum road have been banned from 5 pm to 3 am on Friday.

Vehicles moving on these roads have been advised to take alternative routes in the adjacent areas to avoid congestion.
