Development of over 1500 Gram Panchayats of border district is on the anvil: CM Bommai

The State government has taken up development of over 1500 gram panchayats in the border district, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Speaking after inaugurating a slew of development works and laying foundation for new works of Hanur and Kollegal Assembly constituencies on Tuesday,the CM said he had visited Chamarajanagar as MLA and minister and he feels very happy to come here as the chief minister.

The present government has given priority for the development of border districts and already announced several development works in the budget.

A grant of Rs.100 crore is being released for development works such as improvement of schools, roads and other works.

The development of people living in the border areas needs to be done.The government is committed to developing border villages and the Kannadigas living across the border are also witnessing development with a sense of hope.

In the wake of this,a decision has been taken to reserve the special grant for the development of Kannada schools where the Kannadigas are living across the state border.

Co-operation must for development

He said the sacred land of Male Mahadeshwara is all set to become a part of the district of development in the state and the government is ready to extend all the assistance in this regard.

Farmers can reap a good harvest if this agriculture-dependent district is given water for irrigation purposes.Lack of water availability has made this district to get the tags of drought-hit and backward areas.

Steps for overall development of backward districts
He said under the Amrit scheme, Rs.7000 crore has been sanctioned for the development of urban areas.

Besides, Rs.274 crore has been given for drinking water projects for the district under Amrit-2 scheme.

The district is witnessing development due to the cooperation of both the state and the union governments.

Preference for SC/ST in industries, hospital construction, distribution of RTC to farmers and sanctioning of Uduthore irrigation scheme are done by the government.
