he Kodigehalli police have arrested a couple from Tamil Nadu who posing as custom officials cheated many people promising jobs and also luring them to sell seized foreign goods .
Based on two complaints back to back,the police track down the couple in Mangaluru where they had rented out a flat and preparing a plan to target gullible people.
The accused have been identified as Darbin Das alias Mohandas and Dhanushya alias Rachel .
The couple are unemployed graduates but lead a posh life by cheating people,Dr Anoop A Shetty, DCP, Northeast division,said .
He further said during investigation it was found that the accused had joined a course in a private academy in Indiranagar and cheated the director worth Rs.68 lakhs.
Dhanushya posing as wife of custom officer offered to get seized gold valuables at cheaper rates and taken the money and escaped .
Using similar modus operandi,the accused had also cheated teacher of a private school where they had admitted their daughter.
The accused lured the teacher offering job at airport and taken close to a lakh from the teacher .
The accused had also taken money from the school staff and employees at the academy offering to get seized electronic goods at cheaper prices and escaped,Mr.Shetty, said .
The accused were rented out a posh apartment in Kodigehali and after making over a crore rupees the accused switch off their phones and vacated the flat and escaped .
Based on two complaints,registered in Kodigehalli police track down the accused near Udupi where they had taken a flat on rent in Mangaluru and planning to target people to cheat.
The police have taken them into custody and further investigating to ascertain their criminal background.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,CH Pratap Reddy,has appreciated Addl CP East,A subramanyeshwara Rao,DCP Northeast,Dr Anoop A Shetty,and his whole team who has done a commendable and exemplary work in nabbing the notorious couple who has cheated many gullible people to the tune of lakhs is now cooling their heels in jail a suitable reward will be given to whole team he added.
