T he 108 foot tall ‘Nadaprabhu’ Kempegowda statue has been installed near Bengaluru Airport in the name of ‘Statue of Prosperity’ to become inspiration for the development of Karnataka,said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday after inspecting the arrangements for the unveiling of the statue and the public address venue by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday,he complimented the sculptor,Ram Sutaram for preparing a beautiful statue of Kempe Gowda.
The same sculptor had prepared the statues of Sardar Vallabbhai Patel in Ahmedabad and Dr B.R.Ambedkar.He will be felicitated by Modi tomorrow.
PM to offer floral tributes Saint Kanakadasaru and Maharshi Valmiki
Bommai said the PM will arrive at HAL Airport at 9 am and from there he will travel in a helicopter and shower flowers on the statue of Kanakadasaru in the premises of Legislators’ Home.
It is a coincidence that the PM is coming to Karnataka on the day of Kanaka Jayanthi celebrations.
Modi,who belongs to the backward community is offering floral tributes to a saint who was a beacon for the whole society.
The PM will also shower flowers on Maharshi Valmiki situated adjacent to the statue of Kanaka Dasaru.
The CM said Modi will flag off the much-awaited Vande Bharat High-Speed train between Chennai and Mysuru via Bengaluru tomorrow at Bengaluru Railway Station.
The high speed train would cut down the number of hours of journey and this has been long pending demand of passengers.
This will be the fifth Vande Bharat High Speed Train in the country and first in South India.It will help in economic development in this region.
He said the second terminal of Bengaluru airport will be opened by Modi tomorrow and this will benefit both domestic and international travellers.
The new terminal will have the capacity to handle 25 lakh passengers.The current facility has capacity to handle 35 lakh passengers.
Both put together, it will become the second biggest and more footfall airport in the country after Delhi.After unveiling the statue, the PM will leave for the venue of the public meeting.
Asked about comments by Congress leaders for filling up potholes on the eve of the PM’s visit, he said this is an ongoing process and all the potholes will be filled in the next 3-4 days.
