Bengaluru University students stage protest after MSc student critically injured in a freak accident while boarding BMTC Bus

undreds of students at the Jnanabharathi campus staged a protest after a 22-year-old student critically injured in a freak accident while boarding a BMTC bus on Monday morning.

The victim Shilpashri,native of Bangarapete and pursuing Mathematics and staying at the hostel, trying to board the front door of the bus.

But the negligent driver moved the bus as a result she lost balance came under the rare wheels and critically wounded.

The other students rushed the profusely bleeding Shilpashri to a near-by hospital in an autorickshaw where she is being treated at Intensive care unit.

The Kamakshipalya traffic police with Jnanabharati law and order police rushed to the spot and detained the driver and seized the bus for further investigations.

Enraged students staged a protest blocking the roads demanding the authorities concerned to block the road inside the campus for public transport .

The BBMP has recently asphalted the road inside the campus and removed all the humps during the PM visit,which led the vehicles to drive in a rash and negligent manner,the students alleged .

The students demanded the police and the authorities concerned to bar the public transport inside the campus which is posing threat to the students community.

The injured student is admitted to Fortis hospital and is being treated and the student condition is said to be still critical.

The BMTC bus driver has been detained and bus has been seized by Kamakshipalya traffic police station for further investigations.
