Abhijit Ray, Kolkata :An ASI and a constable of BSF were accused of raping a lady. The incident took place at around 10:30 pm on Thursday at the Jitpur border of Bagda Police Station in North 24 Parganas. On Friday afternoon, the woman lodged a written complaint with the Bagda Police Station. Police arrested the accused in the evening. They will be produced in Bangaon sub-divisional court on today, Saturday.According to the police, the names of the arrested are Altaf Hossain and SP Chero. Chero holds the position of Sub Inspector and Altab is a Constable. The arrested are working in 68th battalion of BSF. According to the police, a 23-year-old woman allegedly tried to cross the Jitpur border to Bangladesh around 10:30 pm on Thursday. The BSF jawans on duty at that time stopped her.Allegedly, after that she was taken to a dark land and she was raped there. The woman was with her child at the time of the incident. The two BSF jawans threw the child and gang-raped her. The woman’s house is in Basirhat. On behalf of the police, the matter has been informed to the higher authorities of BSF.Biswajit Das, President of Bangaon Organizational District Trinamool, said, “If those who are responsible for protection are involved in the rape incident like this, then who will provide security at the border?” This incident shows what the BSF is doing on the border. In fact, the central government’s recklessness is affecting the central agencies as well. The two caught should be given exemplary punishment.”BJP All India Vice President Dilip Ghosh said, “Earlier there were several such allegations against the army in Kashmir. Most are false. But I don’t know if this incident is true or false, if it is true then it is a terrible crime. There should be an appropriate punishment.”
Bongaon District Superintendent of Police Tarun Halder said, “After receiving the written complaint of the woman, the investigation has started. Two BSF jawans arrested. The woman’s statement was recordedThe young woman is seriously ill due to this incident and she is also mentally broken. She is currently admitted to the hospital. The woman’s condition is said to be critical. Naturally, the question arises in this case, but is the keeper the eater? There is no doubt that the security of the border area has also come under big question.
