Bengaluru Division Celebrates Iconic Week Of “AZADI KI RAIL GADI AUR STATIONS”

A s envisioned by our Hon’ble Prime Minister,our country is celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to commemorate 75th year of our independence.

As a part of this Celebration,‘Azadi ki Rail Gadi Aur Stations’is planned from 18th to 23rd July, 2022 by the Indian Railways.

Chairman,Railway Board & Chief Executive Officer (CEO),VK Tripathi inaugurated the Central function of the Iconic Week Celebrations at the Conference Hall,Railway Board,New Delhi, yesterday (18.07.2022).

The General Managers of all the zones and Divisional Railway Managers of all the Divisions on Indian Railways joined the event through Video Conferencing.

They will launch the Iconic Week subsequently in their respective jurisdictions.

In consonance with this, the iconic Train No.16589,Rani Chennamma Express was flagged of yesterday (18.07.2022) from KSR Bengaluru Railway Station.

The train presently running between KSR Bengaluru and Miraj was named after Rani Chehhamma who fought against the British Rule.

Smt.K.Saroja,Wife of Late Kutti B.Achari,Smt.M. Saroja,Wife of Late G.Mannar Pillai and Smt. Vasantha,Wife of Late Muniswamy Naidu did the flag off.

Shri Kutti B.Achari,Shri Mannar Pillai and Muniswamy naidu were freedom fighters.Shyam Singh,Divisional Railway Manager,Bengaluru Division felicitated them.

Shyam Singh,Divisional Railway Manager, Bengaluru Division,Smt.Kusuma Haariprasad, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Admin) Aman Deep Kapoor,Additional Divisonal Railway Manager (Operations) and others were present on the occasion.

It is planned to organize functions in Railway Stations at Maddur and Vidurashwatta which are identified as iconic “Azadi Ki Stations” in Bengaluru Division.

Vidurashwatha is known as the Jalianwalahbagh of South India where more than 35 people were massacred by British East India Poice in 1935.

Satyagra Soudha,a monumental building constructed to commemorate the Flag Satyagraha of 1938 is in Shivapura Maddur Railway Station.

The Iconic Week Celebrations have been organized to educate the common public about the sacrifices of all those freedom fighters and those who were martyred in the fight for our Independence.It also makes an occasion for remembering their sacrifices and offering tributes to these great souls.
