This is the lowest in 20 years
in 71 schools
-Galla S Kiran Kumar,Bureau Chief Telagana( Andhra Pradesh)
Amravati: Tenth class results are worse this year. Who is responsible for this? Reforms in exams? Is there a shortage of subject teachers? Or not having classes with Corona for two years? Leakage of question papers in a row .. Strict action against them? Now the same debate in everyone. It is OK to bring reforms in exams. Should students be prepared in advance accordingly? Sample tests should be performed. This should be the focus from the resumption of schools. But, the authorities are spending all their time merging the schools in the name of a new education policy. Most schools have a shortage of school assistants. Teachers are sufficient or preferring the tenth class .. leaving the following classes. After the children come to the parent class, the subject is having trouble understanding. 8 due to corona on the other hand, Students came to tenth grade without writing tests in 9th grade. Extra classes should be held for such people who are highly armored. There was no supervision over them. All of these actions had a profound effect on tenth grade results.
2 lakh people file ..
Of the 6,15,908 people who wrote the exams in the state, 2,01,627 passed. The pass percentage in the joint AP was 66.06 percent in 2002. This time it is as low as 67.26 percent. Passing has been on the rise since 2002-2003. 94.48 per cent passed in 2018 and 94.88 per cent in 2019. In 2020 and 2021, all passed the exams due to corona. Compared to 2019, the pass percentage has decreased by 27.62 percent. This time the question papers came on social media from the beginning of the exams. The first three days saw some action taken but then the teachers were arrested and suspended. This seems to have created some fear among those on exam duties and treated them harder than usual. Most of them passed the Telugu, Hindi and English language exams held for the first three days. After that, most of them failed in Mathematics, General and Social Sciences.
Zero in 22 government schools ..
None of the 71 schools in the state have passed. There are 31 private schools, 18 aided schools and 22 government schools. In 2018, there will be zero pass rate in 17 schools. Of these, 10 are private, 2 are aided and 5 are public schools. In 2019, only three schools had zero results. There are 2 private hostels and one aided one. Not a single public school had zero results. Two years later, the condition of 22 public schools worsened. Should at least some of the passes be due to Kovid? How do 100% of people fail? If there was no government school with zero results in 2019. Criticisms are being expressed about the worsening situation in two years.
Severe shortage of teachers ..
There are about 10,000 teacher vacancies in high schools in the state. Annamayya district Chitveli school has 13 school assistant posts while Nandyala district Sunnipenta has 12 teacher vacancies. There is a severe shortage of school assistants in Anantapur. Here are just 50 percent of the results. Section 60, the decision-making of superiors based on the allocation of teachers on the basis of students, has a profound effect on teaching. Priority was given in teaching to the lower classes as the tenth class examinations were crucial. If the teaching at the lower level is not proper then how do they learn the subject when it comes to the upper classes? The 500 schools upgraded to high schools in the state have no principals. How does monitoring go here? The new education system is postponing everything.
Versions in exams
Changes have also been made in the tenth class examination system. While there were 11 papers till 2019 .. they were reduced to seven papers. In the past, those who got low marks in one paper would be covered in another paper. Being a single paper this time increased some pressure on the students. The situation was such that one had to prepare for one hundred marks at a time. While in the past there was a bit paper policy .. this time it was removed. One mark brought the approach of writing direct answers to questions. Students are not aware of this. Due to the corona they had to sit for ten exams directly without writing exams in 8th and 9th classes. The schools also did not give proper support to the changed examination system. Authorities have failed to prepare students in advance for the changed exam approach.
* Teachers who teach tenth grade lessons are also assigned non-teaching tasks. They did things like toilets, lunch plan taking photos, online attendance registration. Every day from one hour to an hour and a half of teaching time wasted on these activities. No matter how much the teachers said, the superiors listened. This is one reason why results are declining.
How much is the corona effect?
Schools reopened on August 16 this year. Teachers and authorities already know that students lose their learning abilities during corona. Why no action has been taken in this direction? Currently, students who have written the tenth class exams have not written any exams in the 8th and 9th classes. Teachers noticed a decrease in concentration in many of them during the resumption of schools. It is questionable why the authorities did not take special measures to amend them. Special classes will be held for the losers after the results come out. Why not focus on this as the academic year goes on .. Now the authorities need to know to what extent it is right to conduct extra classes.
The government should be responsible
– STU President, Principal Secretaries Saisreenivas, Thimmanna
” In the past, having 11 papers made it easier for students to write tests. This time it was conducted with only 7 papers. Measures such as prosecuting teachers and sending them to jail have reduced the results. There is no atmosphere in the classroom where lessons are taught. Unable to focus on teaching due to routine non-teaching activities ”
Decreased pass rate due to non-teaching activities
– Onteru Srinivasula Reddy, Honorary President, Coordinating Forum of Teachers Unions
“Anantapur district is lagging behind in results due to handing over of non-teaching tasks to teachers. According to the Right to Education Act, teachers should be used only for teaching. One of the reasons for the drop in pass rate is the impact of non-teaching activities. ”
