TV actress chethana Raj dies during fat surgery,parents allege negligence probe underway

21-year-old Kannada small screen actress died while undergoing fat removal surgery at a private hospital in Bengaluru on Monday.

The deceased Identified as v Chethna,resident of Abbigere daughter of K Varadaraju,was admitted to Dr.Shetty’s cosmetic center situated in Rajajinagar for fat burn surgery on Monday succumbed due to alleged botched up procedure .

Senior officer told reporters, victim’s family In his complaint Mr.Varadaraju alleged that the hospital do not have proper facility to conduct surgery and carried the procedure without their knowledge and consent.

However enquiry by the police revealed that the Chethana has signed the papers and even a man identified as Madesha,claiming to be relative of Chethana signed in the consent form .

Chethan who was acted in many serials and a kannada movie wanted to undergo fat burn surgery,despite objections from her family.

When the parents objected she went ahead and got admitted to the hospital and paid Rs.1.6 lakh, the family alleged.

The police said that they would issue notice to the doctor concerned for questioning and also share reports with the Medical council for further procedure.

The Kaade hospital management where Chethana was rushed,told the police in their report,that around 5:30pm on Monday, a doctor named Melvin who is an anaesthetist barged into our hospital with a patient (who was found unresponsive later) disregarding all the protocols of the hospital and threatening Our security badly.

Before our doctors could intervene and check the patient,he pushed the patient into our ICU and demanded that our doctors treat the patient on the lines indicated by him as the patient had suffered a Cardiac Arrest during some procedure at their hospital of Shetty’s Cosmetic centre, situated in Rajajinagar,Near Navrang Theatre, Bangalore.

No patient file or doctors recommendatory notes or any other document depicting her condition was produced to us.

On checking the patient she was found to have No Pulse and on the insistence of Dr Melvin and team,CPR was initiated and after trying for approximately 45 minutes the patient could not be revived as it appeared that she was Brought Dead.

Our doctors were forced by Dr Melvin and team with threats and though they were aware that the patient was Brought dead they were coerced into declaring only at 6:45pm, for the reasons best known to them.

We strongly object to this kind of behaviour by these doctors and it necessary we may decide to file a report against them.

This report is being sent to to you to bring to your notice this incident which does not appear normal, the report from Kaade hospital,said .

Based on the complaint filed by Varadaraju, accusing negligence of doctors led to death,the Subramanyanagar police on tuesday registered a case under section 174C of the CrPC and awaiting Post mortem report for further investigations.
