The Bellandur police on Saturday arrested a 33-year-old realtor for cheating a city based software engineer promising to get her visas for foreign countries and escaped with Rs 89 lakh.
Senior officer told reporters,Based on the complaint filed by the victim,the Bellandur police inspector, Mahendra Kumar KH and his crime staff swung into action and based on technical inputs and other investigation skills the team track down the accused identified as Arahanth Mohan Kumar Lakkavalli,native of Shimoga and resident of Rajajinagar 4th block, charging him under cheating and impersonation.
He further said the accused a B.com graduate and working with a real estate firm,met the victim in the year 2019 in a flight to Kualalampur from city.
The accused introduced himself as RAW agent working in Prime Minister office,New Delhi.
The victim during the conversation said that her visa was rejected to Italy and Czech republic in 2019 without any reasons but the visa was granted in 2020 when she applied again.
The accused promised to help to find out the reason using his official position and took her passport details .
Few days later the accused called her to inform
that she has been blacklisted for suspected terrorists activities in many foreign countries and promised to remove her name from the list using his official powers.
The accused demanded Rs.Six crore but made the victim to transfer Rs.89 lakh to various accounts .
The accused later took her to the whitefield station and CID office on the pretext of getting the clearance to make her get confidence on him and later escaped with the money and her passport,
Unable to get back her passport the victim realized that she has been cheated and approached the police on tuesday and filed a cheating complaint and with this the team has arrested the accused.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP East,A subramanyeshwara Rao,DCP Whitefield,Girish S, ACP,Kishore Bharani,PI,Mahendra Kumar KH,PSI, Parashuram and crime staff as,Manappa,Mahesh and Mohan has been appreciated for the exemplary work done by them in tracking the fraudster who cheated a software Engineer by impersonating himself as intelligence officer to make easy bucks is now cooling his heels in jail and a suitable reward will be given to whole team he added.
