A 22-year-old mechanic was killed and his friend riding the bike severely injured when a speeding truck ran over the duo after they slipped from the scooter they were riding due to rain near Corporation circle on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Ali,a mechanic by profession and resident of city market .
The injured Mubarak Ahmed sustained severe injuries and admitted to St Johns hospital where his condition said to be critical .
Senior officer with the Wilson Garden traffic police visited the spot and after collecting information he said, the duo had gone to Shivajinagar for Ramazan shopping and returning from late in the night.
When they reached corporation circle,the duo lost control over the scooter and slipped from the scooter and came under the truck .
While Mohammed Ali was crushed to death on the spot,Mubarak sustained severe injuries and rushed to the hospital.
The Wilson garden traffic police have taken up a case and are investigating.
