A couple were killed on the spot after speeding truck knock down the scooter they were riding on Doddaballapura-Dobbespet highway in the outskirts of the city on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Shyam Nayak, (55) and his wife Sharadha, (45), resident of Shathinagar in Doddaballapura were working as contract employees at a factory.
According to the police, the incident took place around 8.30am and the couple were going to Dobbespet for work.
Meanwhile a speeding truck rammed their scooter and the duo were tossed in the air due to the impact and died on the spot.
The passersby who noticed the incident alerted the Doddabelavangala police who rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies for the post-mortem.
The driver managed to escape leaving behind the vehicle and the Doddabelavangala police registered a case.Efforts are on to nab the driver and truck has been seized and further investigation is on.
