“We need to achieve Atma Nirbhar Bharat in every sphere”

During initial days of Covid-19 pandemic India did not have sufficient domestic production of medical equipment including PPE and sanitis ers and we had to import from other countries.

But within a short span of time we are able to not just meet our domestic needs but also capable of supplying to other countries, said Health and Medical Education Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar.

Speaking after the inauguration of the IITPL’s new Cath Lab Manufacturing facility Dr.Sudhakar said that PM Narendra Modi has given a clarion call for Make In India and AtmaNirbhar Bharat.

The FDI in manufacturing was about $20 Billion in 2014, which has now tripled to about $68 billion. We must achieve self reliance in all sectors medical devices manufacturing, said the minister.

India is now the capital of diabetes.Diabetes also leads to other diseases. Most of the non-communicable diseases are related to cardiovascular diseases.

We need several equipment for cardiac care.I appreciate IITPL for setting up this world class medical device manufacturing facility. Both centre and state governments have made several reforms and providing various incentives to facilitate ease of doing business and create investor friendly environment.

I urge young entrepreneurs and investors to strengthen domestic medical equipment manufacturing and realise PM Modi’s vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
