BMTC employee attempted suicide in indiranagar depot

A 46-year-old driver attempted to end life by consuming poison at the depot no.6 situated in Indiranagar on Thursday .

The victim,identified as,Keshavan,a resident of Old Byapanahalli was dismissed from the service citing unauthorised absence for a long time, after he was involved in a strike in April last year and upset over this he tried to end his life, the police said.

The incident took place around 11.30 am and Keshavan came with a poison bottle and consumed it while the other staff members looked on.

The depot manager and the other staff rushed him to Bowring hospital where he is being treated at ICU.

The statement from Keshavan has been recorded and he was part of the strike called by the employees union during Pandemic and he was absent for the duty.

Keshava said that he is upset that he along with 29 staff members have been dismissed for participating in the protest.

We have not done anything wrong and been punished.Due to this the family members are suffering and the dismissed staff have no option left,he said in his statement .

The Indiranagar police have taken up a case and are investigating .
