The south division police busted another inter state child sale racket and arrested five persons including three women running the racket for the last one year.

The police have rescued more than 13 children out of which the biological parents of the 11 children have been identified and submitted the report to the Child Welfare Committee for further action.

The accused has been identified as,Devishanmugamma,Mahesh kumar,Ranjana Deviprasad,Janardhan and Dhanalakshmi.

The racket came to light when a special team of police formed to track down the missing child from Chamarajpet hospital in June 2020, stumbled upon another racket and caught a woman red handed near Sangoli Rayana railway station when she came to deliver the baby from Mumbai.

Based on her information, the police raided the accused house and found a bagful of documents including 28 mother cards from a private hospital issued by a private hospital in Kengeri .

Following the leads, the police arrested Devishnmugamma,Mahesh kumar Ranjana, Deviprasad,Janardhan and Dhanalakshmi.

Some of the accused have worked as staff in private hospitals and are suspected to have created fake mother cards for the racket,Harish Pandey, DCP, south division, said .

explaining the modus Operandi,Mr.Pandey said that the accused have links with the poor and hapless families in Mumbai Chennai and Bengaluru slum area and convince them to sell their children for a range from Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000 depending upon the health condition of the children.

Meanwhile other accused would move around at I V centres across Bengaluru and target childless couples offering children through surrogacy.

Once the deal is confirmed they would take money ranging from Rs 6 to 9 lakh from the childless couple depending upon their financial status

and give them fake documents to make them believe that the child adoption is legal .

Using this, the accused would cheat both the biological parents and the childless couple and make lakhs of rupees through the racket, a police officer said .

The accused have been taken into custody for further investigations while the CWC members contemplate getting the legal procedure for the adoption of the children who were sold, since many biological parents could not afford to take care of their children and further investigation is on.
