The Upparpet police in a swift action arrested a habitual offender who attacked a Nigerian national with a blade to rob Cash Rs.1,000 from him in Majestic on Tuesday night.
The accused has been identified as,Jagadisha,a habitual offender.
Senior officer, told media persons,a case of assault and robbery was reported in Upparpet police yesterday as Tuesday night in which the Nigerian National was assaulted while he came out from ATM after withdrawing cash.
The complainant stated in his complaint that when he came out withdrawing cash a person armed with blade confronted him near ATM and robbed him the Nigerian National tried to resist himself meanwhile the miscreant took blade from his pocket and attacked him on his face.
Immediately he rushed and informed the upparpet police who first shifted the victim to hospital and after getting details the upparpet police flashed the message and alerted all the police station in west division.
The patrolling police rushed to the spot within a few minutes of the incident and took Don to a near-by hospital for treatment.
They also alerted the robbery incident, prompting the other patrolling staff to step up vigil and managed to track down Jagadisha and arrested him.The police recovered the blade and Rs.1,000 cash from him .
During investigation the accused,Jagadisha, confessed the crime and said that he confronted Solomon don, when he was getting out of the ATM after withdrawing cash in Majestic and tried to snatch the cash and the mobile phone .
When Don tried to resist the robbery, Jagadisha attacked him with a blade and escaped with Rs 1,000 cash.
Jagadisha was arrested for robbery last year and jailed.However he came out on bail to continue anti social activities, a senior police officer, said.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West,Soumendhu Mukherjee,DCP West,Dr Sanjeev M Patil,ACP,P Ravikumar,PI,Shivaswamy CB and his whole staff who acted swiftly and swung into action and nabbed the accused a habitual offender within 2 hours of crime incident reported and a suitable reward will be given to the team who has successfully nabbed the accused and further investigation is on.
