Medical equipment donated to Dr.Babu Jagjivan Ram General Hospital for children’s health facilities

To prevent Covid19 from spreading Medical equipment (for children’s health facilities) were donated to Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram General Hospital in BBMP limits by Shilpa Singh and Parisa Singh.The equipment was handed over to D Randeep,Special Commissioner (Health),today,Dr Nirmala Buggi,BBMP chief health officer (clinical) and other officials were present on the occasion.

D Randeep, the special commissioner spoke to the media persons and said that during the Covid19 health emergency,we already set up fever clinic and a triage centre at Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital.

Now, a 30-bed child care centre has been established which has 2 ICU, 8 HDU, 20 oxygenated beds. Children with mild and moderate Covid symptoms will be treated here.

I thank Shilpa Singh and Parisa Singh who donated medical equipment worth Rs 5 lakhs to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital to facilitate Covid treatment at the hospital.

The donation includes 3 BiPAP machines,1 video laryngoscope,300 PPE kits,and 50-litre sanitiser.

The BBMP paediatricians and nursing staff have been trained by child experts from Indira Gandhi Hospital to treat the children.

Children will be treated at Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital on a priority basis.Treatment can be provided even if there are serious symptoms, however, the children will be sent to a hospital with better health facilities if the symptoms are severe,he added.

He said that there is no increase in the Covid infection in children in the BBMP limits.Most children have only mild to moderate symptoms and are recovering at home.

The number of hospital admissions is very low, he said.In this regard,guidelines have been issued to residents’welfare associations and they have been instructed to look after the health of children.

Dr. Jagjivan Ram Hospital has both outpatient and inpatient facilities,including general medicine,general surgery,ENT,ophthalmology, orthopaedics,dental care,screening facility for children,and cervical cancer.

There is also a high-tech lab with an x-ray unit and a blood storage unit at the hospital.
