Part of the DCP office situated in Upparpet turned into a makeshift blood donation camp for sometime as a group of 75 police officers of all ranks donated blood to the children cancer patients of Kidwai hospital .

The camp was organised by Prakruti Prasanna and their team a city based NGO,(Sustainable Environment Development Trust)and Lions Blood bank with volunteers as the west division police force donated blood for the cause .

Dr.Sanjeev M Patil, DCP,West division, who started the initiative told media persons, that the idea came during the interactions with the doctors of many hospitals during lock down period when there was a dearth of blood donors in covid times.

AS a result there was a huge gap between demand and supply and many police officials led by Mr.Patil chipped in to donate .

This continued to grow and many police officers of all ranks joined and formed a group and took part in blood donation camps which helped many people ,he said.

Taking a step further,we decided to continue our effort for a better cause and this time a donation was made for the children cancer patients who are in need he added.

Such an initiative not only brings great deal of satisfaction but also encourages others to be part of the life saving exercise,a Senior police officer part of the camp, said .
