Peenya police on Tuesday opened fire and arrested 22 year old habitual offender who attacked head constable with chopper in a bid to escape arrest.

The accused has been identified as Praveen,resident of Raghavendra Nagar and associate of a notorious rowdy sheeter Anil,escaped during a police raid on January 16.

The accused along with his associates had hatched a plan to attack their rivals Abhi@Andrahalli Abhi when the police raided them in an isolated place in Peenya industrial area.

While the police arrested six persons and seized two kilograms of Marijuana and lethal weapons from them,Praveen managed to give a slip to the police and escaped.

On Tuesday the police on a definite clues went to forest area in Thippenahalli and surrounded the place where Praveen was hiding.In a bid to escape Praveen attacked head constable Rangaswamy with a chopper.

Police Sub Inspector,ML Birani warned and later fired at him in retaliation.Praveen sustained injuries on right leg and both the injured have been shifted to private hospital for treatment.

Praveen had at least half a dozen of criminal cases pending against him.

The incident of habitual offenders attacking policemen on the rise and this is the third firing incident in the last two days. A case under Arms Act and attempt to murder has been registered against the accused and further investigation is on.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant,has appreciated,Addl CP West,Soumendhu Mukherjee,DCP North,Dharmendra Kumar Meena,ACP,Srinivas Reddy,PI,Mudduraju,PSI,ML Birani,and staff as,Rangaswamy and other staff who has nabbed the notorious absconding accused a Rowdy-Sheeter a special appreciation to PSI ML Birani and head constable Rangaswamy who risked their life in nabbing the accused a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.
