Indian cricket has been obsessed with fixing for some time.This has had the biggest impact on India’s domestic cricket.  Recently two domestic players from India have been arrested in spot-fixing cases.  Both these players have played matches from different teams in several editions of the Karnataka Premier League (KPL).

The Central Crime Branch police on Thursday arrested two domestic players in the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) match-fixing case.Among them are CM Gautam, captain of the Bellary Tuskers team and with him is wicketkeeper Abrar Kazi.Six KPL players have been arrested so far in the fixing case.

Bellary team captain,CM Gautam and Abrar Kazi have been arrested by the CCB police in the spot-fixing case.

The duo allegedly involved in spot fixing between during the final match of Bellary tuskers and Hubballi tigers in the KPL tournament of 2019.

CM Gautham has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.Both the players were given Rs 20 lakh by the bookies for slow batting during the final of KPL 2019.The final match of KPL 2019 was played between Hubbali and Bellary team.  Gautam has also played a Ranji match.

Let us know that in the fixing case in the 2018 edition of Karnataka Premier League, the Bangalore Blasters’ former opener, M Vishwanathan was also arrested by the Bengaluru Police.Police investigation found that the bookies had asked Vishwanathan to score less than 10 runs in 20 balls in a match against the Hubli Tigers.He did the same and scored only nine runs in 17 balls.Police said that Viswanathan changed his bat to signal the bookie during the match and also took the jersey half said by police.

The first arrest was made in September.

The match-fixing issue first surfaced in September, when Belagavi team owner Ali Ashfaq Thara was arrested.After this, on 26 October,Bengaluru Blasters bowling coach Veenu Prasad and a batsman Vishwanathan were arrested.In the case, the Crime Branch arrested Bangalore team player Nishant Singh Shekhawat last week.

KSCA,Secretary,Santhosh Menon,told media persons,that we would like to reassure everybody involved that the KSCA is extremely serious,extremely aware of the developments happening today.And KSCA will take all necessary action.
To ensure such of those players,owners and their support staffs who are involved in any illegal activity stringent action will be taken against them without any delay.

And immediately infact we have suspended all the players who have been arrested for investigation by the police. Till then no players will be played in any of the KSCA tournament till the investigation gets complete he added.

Sandip Patil,Joint Commissioner of police,CCB,said reporters,Regarding the allegations of match fixing and cricket betting during the IPL.

Already Bengaluru city police under the leadership of police commissioner. We have already registered 3 cases and arrested number of players,as well as few team owners.

Continuing with the investigation on Wednesday we have arrested two players.Both of them are from Bellary team.

One is a captain of the Bellary team CM Gautam and one more is Abrar Kazi.The player in Bellary team.Patil said we got evidence that they have done spot-fixing in this years 2019 KPL finals.For which they were paid 20 lakhs and further investigation is being done.

So Gautam has not only played for KPL he also played for Ranji for karnataka and also represented 3 teams,Mumbai Indians,Delhi Daredevils and RCB for IPL.

Similarly Abrar Kazi has played Ranji for karnataka and presently he plays for Manipur.So this is a very important development in our investigation.And we are taking both of them in police custody.Of these two people and we will investigate in detail.Because they have not only played for karnataka KPL they have also played other tournaments.So whether they have done such kind of spot fixing or betting in other tournaments so regarding that a detailed investigation will be done.The two accused were produced before the magistrate and remanded seven days police custody by the court.

So far the CCB,has arrested Players,Owners,Bowling Coach,bookies are identified as,Ashfaq Ali Thara,Bhavesh Bafna,Sanyam,Vinu Prasad,Vishwanathan,Nishant Singh Shekawat,CM Gautam,and Abrar Kazi has been arrested in the scam he added.

Bhaskar Rao,Commissioner of police,told reporters,During the interrogation of the accused the involvement of several brokers,team owners,players and officials has been revealed.We are also being pressurized to release them. They influential people are citing that the career of these players would be ruined otherwise.However we cannot release them he added.

The CCB had earlier arrested Belagavi panthers owner Ali Ashfaq Thara.The CCB police have also arrested four others involved in the betting.

CCB sleuths had issued lookout circular or notice against the Dubai based bookies identified as,Shyam and Jatin who are involved in betting and spot fixing scam.
