Bengaluru:Dreaded Gangster Lakshmana murder Case,Prime Suspect Raja alias Cat Raja shot at and arrested by Mahalakshmi Layout Police :
In a Joint operation by North Division police and CCB team on Saturday, March 9,arrested Raja alias Cat Raja,who is one of the main accused in the murder of dreaded Gangster Lakshmana,who was brutally killed recently.
Cat Raja was the head of the gang that killed Lakshmana and was hiding in Gudibande in Chikkaballapur district.
The prefix ‘Cat’ was added before Raja because of his cat eyes. He is wanted in over 28 cases throughout the state including murder, dacoity and supari killings.Raja was traced to Gudibande in Chikkaballapur district, the native place of his wife, where he had been hiding after committing the murder. He was taken into custody on the evening of Friday, March 8 and brought to the city.Soon after the murder of Lakshmana, the police through their informers learnt that the murder was carried out by a rival gang with whom Lakshmana had clashed in the Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara.Raja alias Cat Raja was being escorted by the police to Karim Saheb Layout in Rajagopalanagar for the recovery of his blood-stained clothes and murder weapon when he launched an escape bid following which he was shot at and injured in his legs.
DCP North N.Shashi Kumar, told media persons that, After the murder took place of Gangster Lakshmana a special team was formed to nab the assailants, ACP Malleshwaram sub division Dhananjaya led a special team under the leadership of PI, Mahalakshmi Layout Prashanth and his team swung into action and based on technical inputs the special team of police traced him to his wife’s native in Gudibande in Chikkaballapur district, where he was hiding after the murder. Raja was taken into custody on Friday and was brought to the city.On Saturday, the Mahalakshmi Layout police headed by police inspector Prashanth was escorting Raja to Karim Saheb Layout near Doddanna estate in Peenya 2nd Stage.
The accused had told the investigation officer that he had discarded his bloodstained clothes and the murder weapon at the estate.When the police team and Raja were about to reach the area, the accused picked a stone and assaulted two head-constables Chowdegowda and Anantha who were escorting him.Inspector Prashanth warned Raja by firing in in the air, but as he continued to attack,later in self defense to protect the staff inspector Prashanth shot Raja on his both legs and he suffered bullet injuries and was arrested.Later, the two constables along with Raja were taken to a hospital.The Rajagopalanagar police have registered a case of criminal assault on a public servant and a bid to escape from police custody.The Mahalakshmi Layout police are yet to recover the clothes and the murder weapon used by Raja.The Mahalakshmi Layout police are yet to arrest 10-11 others, including history-sheeter Rupesh and his associate Hemanth in connection with Lakshmana’s murder he added.
Senior officer told media persons that, say that two other gangsters,Kalla Jagga and Hemanth alias Hemi,are still absconding and that they are being traced.Cat Raja, Srikanta,Hemi and Kalla Jagga are all close associates for Machchu Manja,who was killed 14 years ago by Lakshmana and his men,In 2005,Machchu Manja,a local gangster,was returning home after distributing his wedding invitation.He was chased down by twin brothers Rama and Lakshmana along with 40 others in Yelahanka.Machchu Manja was hacked to death with sickles and machetes.According to Cat Raja,the murder was committed due to both personal rivalry and also because of certain land grabbing cases which Lakshmana was involved in.We have reason to believe that the assailants had planned the event well in advance and that a woman friend of Hemi was roped in as well,The police team found a hotel room key in Lakshmana’s car and suspect that Lakshmana was on his way to meet Hemi’s friend.We think she may have tipped the others off.This was well planned.
The day before Laksmana was killed,Cat Raja and Kalla Jagga had performed a puja at Machchu Manja’s grave in Solur.Although we do not have adequate evidence about whether it was a revenge killing, we have reason to believe it was due to the suspects in the case and the events which led up to Lakshmana’s murder,and we will nab all the culprits as soon as possible as a team headed by DCP Crime,Girish S is working on it and are investigating the case in all angles as based on CCTV footage which was caught on camera the team has collaborated crucial evidence and soon we will detect the case and all the culprits will be behind the bars and finally Bengaluru Police commissioner,T.Suneel Kumar,has appreciated,Addl CP, Crime, Alok Kumar,Addl CP,West,B.K.Singh,DCP North,N.Shashi Kumar,DCP Crime, Girish S,and his team asACP Malleshwaram sub Division,Dhananjaya with CCB,ACP,Balaraj and his team,PI,Mahalakshmi Layout,Prashanth Manju,and his crime staff as,Chowdegowda,and Ananth who has done a tremendous and exemplary work who has risked and played on their life in nabbing this notorious dreaded historty sheeter who is wanted in more than 28 cases across the state and a prime accused in the dreaded Gangster Laksmana alias Rama Lakshmana murder case he added.
