COUNTERVAILING PRESSURES FROM CITIZENS NECESSARY FOR EFFECTIVE POLICIES OF INDIAN UNION, SAYS BIBEK DEBROY AT PHD CHAMBER

Dr. Bibek Debroy, Chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and Member, NITI Aayog on Friday emphasized that if the citizens of this country desire radical reforms, they should exercise countervailing pressures on Indian Union for effective policy making and their conclusive implementation.

 

He also stressed that the Chamber of Commerce should come forward with suggestions for better and effective eco system in governments critical arms such as defence, policy, judiciary and environment including ecology.

 

Speaking at an Interactive Session on India 2022 – 75 Years of India’s Independence under aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry here today, Dr. Debroy also asked the Indian industry to come forward with pro-active and positive mindset and then asked the government the relevant questions relating to its policies so that the dialogue between the two become conclusive.

 

Explaining the countervailing pressures that citizens should exercise in order to pertinently address the emerging issues on any front of economy and environment, Dr. Debroy felt that larger and wider such pressures are, the results for better and quicker policy making become yielding.

 

Therefore, the citizens should be active in their participation so that the eco system built in the government for decades is cleansed and potholes in them are gradually removed, exuding confidence that by 2024, the negatives and gaps in the government eco system would vanish.

 

The Interactive session was presided over by the President, PHD Chamber, Mr. Anil Khaitan in which its Secretary General, Mr. Saurabh Sanyal proposed a vote of thanks.
