In a commendable display of alertness,promptness and dedication to passenger service, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station promptly recovered and safely returned a passenger’s bag containing gold ornaments,a laptop and cash,with a total value of over Rs.29 lakh.
The incident occurred on 30.08.2026 when Santosh,a passenger travelling by Train No.16316 Thiruvananthapuram North–Mysuru,inadvertently left behind his bag while deboarding the train at Krishnarajapuram.
The bag had been left in Coach B3 and contained valuable items including gold ornaments and a laptop.
On receiving information,Smt.Vijayalaxmi M.Gudi, ASI/RPF/Bengaluru,immediately alerted the on-duty staff, including Head Constable,Gunagi and Head Constable C.R.Suresh.
When Train No.16316 arrived at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station on Platform No. 5,the RPF personnel immediately attended the concerned coach,searched the area and safely secured the unattended bag.The bag was subsequently brought to the RPF office for verification and safe custody.
The passenger later arrived at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station along with his family and approached the RPF personnel.
After due verification of his identity and travel particulars,the recovered bag was shown to him,which he positively identified as his own.
In the presence of the on-duty RPF personnel,the passenger opened the bag and verified its contents.
The recovered valuables included gold ornaments weighing approximately 189 grams, a laptop,cash amounting to Rs.53,240,a laptop bag and other accessories.
The value of the gold ornaments was stated by the passenger to be approximately Rs.27.15 lakh, while the laptop and other articles were also found intact.
After completing all necessary formalities and verification,the entire bag and its contents were handed over safely to the passenger.
The passenger expressed his appreciation for the dedication,quick response and prompt service of the RPF personnel,and conveyed his gratitude to the RPF Department for ensuring the safe recovery and return of his valuable belongings.
