The Bandepalya police have arrested two persons for allegedly carrying deadly weapons in public and threatening to kill those responsible for the murder of a man,triggering fear among residents in Mangammanapalya.
The arrests come against the backdrop of a series of murders linked to rivalry between two groups operating in the Bandepalya and Madiwala police station limits.
On January 12,2026,Syed Shabbir alias Shabbir,a rowdy-sheeter of Koramangala police station,was murdered allegedly due to previous enmity.
Bandepalya police arrested all those accused in the case and filed a chargesheet before the court.Three of the accused subsequently secured bail and were released about a month ago.
Senior officer told reporters that on the night of August 22,Bandepalya rowdy-sheeter Adil Akmal,a close associate of the deceased,and his associates intercepted Syed Suhail,a medical shop owner near St John’s Signal,within Madiwala police limits,and allegedly hacked him to death with deadly weapons.
The accused were later arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
Following the murder,a video circulated on social media in which a person said to be relative of deceased Suhail allegedly vowed to kill those responsible for his brother’s death and their associates.
Acting on the information,Bandepalya police on August 30 found the person and an associate allegedly displaying dangerous weapons at public places in Mangammanapalya and threatening to kill those involved in his brother’s murder.
The two were taken to the police station and a case was registered against them under the Arms Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The weapons allegedly found in their possession were seized and both accused were remanded in judicial custody.
Police said they have stepped up surveillance in areas under Bandepalya and Madiwala police stations following the murders linked to rivalry between the two groups.
Preventive measures have also been taken to prevent further violence and maintain law and order said a senior officer.
