The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the fake medicine racket has conducted raids on three pharmacies in Bengaluru following allegations that they had purchased and sold large quantities of counterfeit medicines from the accused.
The raids were carried out based on information obtained during the interrogation of key accused Prashanth and distributor Veeresh.
SIT officials identified pharmacies allegedly involved in purchasing counterfeit medicines from the accused and conducted searches at the premises.
The three pharmacies raided were RR Pharma in Rajarajeshwari Nagar,2365 LLP Pharma in Chamarajpet and Patel Pharma in Talaghattapura.
During the searches,officials seized counterfeit medicines found at the pharmacies.Notices have also been issued to the owners,who are being questioned about their dealings with the accused.
The SIT is investigating since when the pharmacies had been purchasing counterfeit tablets,where the medicines were stored and sold, and how they were distributed.
Officials are also collecting information from pharmacy owners on the hospitals to which the medicines may have been supplied.
The investigation is also focusing on the larger distribution network and whether more pharmacies or individuals were involved in the racket.
The SIT has been probing allegations that the accused purchased medicines in large quantities and sold them after allegedly repackaging or relabelling them as genuine branded medicines.
Officials are continuing their investigation to identify other pharmacies and individuals who may have links to the counterfeit medicine network.
