Drugs Worth Rs.10.96 Crore Seized in Bengaluru;Six including Woman & Foreign Nationals arrested

In a joint operation,the Girinagar,Hebbal and Vidyaranyapura police have arrested six persons, including a woman and Foreign Nationals, and seized drugs worth Rs.10.96 crore in separate operations, Bengaluru Police Commissioner, Seemant Kumar Singh said on Tuesday.
The police recovered a total of 5.480 kg of MDMA from the six accused.
The arrested persons include Foreign Nationals and those from other States and Karnataka,who allegedly procured Narcotic substances at cheaper prices from contacts in other States and abroad and sold them at higher prices to the public and college students.
In one operation,Girinagar police arrested Jaffer,35,from Kasaragod in Kerala;Ashiq,32,of Devarachikkanahalli; and Nigerian national Josiah Abel,26.
The police seized 4.320 kg of MDMA,valued at around Rs.4.32 crore,from them.
The Hebbal police arrested Banita Karan,35,a native of Odisha and residing in Tavarekere,and seized 1.054 kg of MDMA worth around ₹2 crore.
The Vidyaranyapura police seized another 106 grams of MDMA,valued at around ₹10.60 lakh,in their operation.
All six accused were produced before a court,which remanded them to judicial custody.
The police have intensified efforts to identify and apprehend others allegedly involved in supplying the drugs.
The three police stations conducted the operations under the guidance of senior police officers,and further investigation is underway to trace the wider drug supply network and identify the source of the narcotics a senior officer said.
