Two people were killed on the spot and three others sustained serious injuries after a speeding Mahindra Thar SUV overturned near Kambalu village in Nelamangala taluk on Tuesday night.
The deceased have been identified as Pavan and Deepak, both residents of Nelamangala.
According to the police, the five friends were returning in the Mahindra Thar after attending a friend’s birthday celebration when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle,causing it to overturn.
The three injured occupants were rescued by local residents and police personnel and shifted to a nearby hospital,where they are undergoing treatment.
Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding may have been the cause of the accident,though the exact reason will be determined after a detailed investigation.
Police from Dabaspete Police Station visited the accident spot,conducted an inspection,and registered a case.Further investigation is underway.
