In an effort to facilitate smooth daily traffic for the public and unhindered movement for pedestrians within the the Bengaluru West City Corporation limits,the Commissioner of West City Corporation,Dr.Rajendra K.V., and the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Rajajinagar constituency,S.Suresh Kumar,jointly launched a drive in front of the Rajajinagar Police Station to relocate long-seized vehicles parked within its premises to alternative locations.
This initiative is being undertaken in collaboration with the police department.
Speaking on the occasion,the Commissioner stated that abandoned vehicles within the Bengaluru West City Corporation limits are being towed and relocated to a designated site in Bommashettyhalli.
Across all ten legislative assembly constituencies of the corporation, over 453 abandoned vehicles,including two-wheelers,three-wheelers,
Out of these,100 derelict vehicles have already been towed and placed at designated locations in Chandra Layout as well as within various police station jurisdictions.
Within the Rajajinagar division limits,34 abandoned vehicles that posed an obstruction to the city’s cleanliness and beauty,as well as to pedestrian and vehicular traffic,have been towed.
Abandoned vehicles had also occupied space in front of the Rajajinagar Police Station,and the work to clear them was launched today in the presence of the MLA.This process will be carried out continuously.
Members of the public who have left their vehicles abandoned still have the opportunity to clear them; otherwise,the process of issuing notices and seizing unclaimed vehicles according to rules is ongoing.
Arrangements have also been made to hand over already-towed vehicles back to their rightful claimants after due verification,should they wish to claim them.
Steps have been initiated in coordination with the transport department for the disposal of the remaining abandoned vehicles.
The MLA stated that abandoned vehicles are also causing obstruction to the city’s cleanliness.
Furthermore,vehicles involved in accidents and those seized have been parked in front of police stations for several years.This matter has been discussed multiple times in assembly.
To facilitate the relocation of abandoned and seized vehicles across all ten legislative constituencies of Bengaluru West, a towing vehicle has been provided for each constituency,and land has been allocated in Chandra Layout and Bommashettyhalli (Dasanapura).
Owners of abandoned vehicles still have the opportunity to pay the fine and reclaim their vehicles.
However, leaving vehicles abandoned in this manner across the city will not be tolerated. Citizens should understand this and cooperate.
Visit to Command Centre and Meeting:
Subsequently,Commissioner Dr.Rajendra K.V.,MLA S. Suresh Kumar, and Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Karthik Reddy visited the Command Centre at the Rajajinagar Police Station and inspected the arrangements.They then held a meeting and issued directives to the officials.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order)B.S. Nemagouda,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Jayaprakash,Chief Engineer of Zone-2 of Bengaluru West City Corporation Jayashankar B.S,along with other officials and staff,were present on the occasion.
