A complaint has been filed at a local police station after a census official was allegedly abused and obstructed while performing her duties as part of the National Census–2027 exercise in the city.

According to the complaint lodged by Dr.Lokesh S.P, census enumerator Veena had been assigned to conduct enumeration work in Ward No.43,Block-8.

On April 20, 2026,at around 11:00 AM,she visited Flat No. 101 at Pari Monarch Apartments, located on 5th Main Road,Dinnur Main Road,RT.Nagar,to collect census data.

However, the resident present at the premises allegedly refused to provide any information.

Subsequently,on April 25, 2026,at around 11:18 AM, Circle-2 Supervisor Rashmi R,while carrying out routine verification work in the same ward, inquired about pending census households.

Veena informed her that no enumeration had been completed at Pari Monarch Apartments and pointed out a man near the apartment gate who had also refused to cooperate.

When Supervisor Rashmi approached the individual and requested details regarding the number of flats in the apartment for census purposes,he allegedly refused to share any information and denied entry to the premises, thereby obstructing official duty.

Despite repeated attempts to explain the importance of the census, the individual allegedly used abusive language and verbally insulted the officer.

He is reported to have used the phrase “F*** you” in English, causing humiliation and outraging the modesty of the women official.

Following the incident,Rashmi R.informed the complainant over the phone, based on which a formal complaint was filed seeking legal action against the resident of Flat No. 101,Pari Monarch Apartments.

Police have registered the case and initiated an investigation.
