Mass food poisoning reported after Ram Navami prasada in Devanahalli

A case of suspected food poisoning was reported from Bettenahalli village in Devanahalli taluk,where hundreds of devotees fell ill after consuming prasada distributed during the Sri Rama Navami celebrations.

According to officials,the incident occurred on March 28 following the distribution of annaprasada at a local temple.

Soon after consuming the food,several villagers began experiencing symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhoea, triggering panic in the area.

Many of the affected were rushed to government hospitals in Devanahalli and Doddaballapur,as well as nearby private medical facilities,where they are currently undergoing treatment.

Health department authorities stated that while most cases are stable, a few individuals require closer medical attention.

The district health department has set up a temporary medical camp in the village to provide immediate treatment and monitor the situation.

Medical teams are also administering first aid and preventive care to those with mild symptoms.

Officials have collected samples of the prasada and drinking water, which have been sent to laboratories for testing to determine the exact cause of the contamination.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and further action will be taken based on the lab results.
