Woman dies in house fire in North Bengaluru;three rescued

A 53-year-old woman was killed in a fire accident that broke out at a four-storey residential building in Gayathrinagar under the limits of Subramanyanagar Police Station on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Savitha (53),wife of contractor Ramesh Babu.

Senior officer told reporters that the fire was reported around 9 pm from the kitchen on the third floor of the building located in Gayathrinagar.

Ramesh Babu lived in a duplex house on the third and fourth floors along with his wife Savitha and his mother, Chinnamma.The first and second floors of the building had been rented out.

Savitha was trapped inside the house and sustained severe burn injuries,leading to her death.

Ramesh Babu,his mother Chinnamma and his son,who were also inside the house at the time of the incident, were rescued by fire and emergency personnel.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot upon receiving information and managed to douse the flames before rescuing the three occupants.

The injured were shifted to Manipal Hospital for treatment.

Senior police officials,including Malleswaram ACP Venugopal,visited the scene along with Subramanyanagar police and conducted an inspection.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained,and further investigation is underway.
