A 14-year-old boy who had been reported missing three days ago was found dead inside a Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) pipeline chamber on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Preetham (14),son of Rajnikanth,a native of Chamarajanagar district.
The family had been residing in a rented house at Tatguni village in south Bengaluru.Preetham is studying in class 9 and had gone to his aunt house for breakfast while his parents a house keeping staff at a private firm had gone to work on January 28 .
After breakfast Preetham returned home and had gone missing three days ago.
The parents returned in the evening and after search filed a missing complaint at the Kaggalipura Police Station.
Police and local residents had been conducting a search operation since then.
On Sunday morning,while BWSSB staff were carrying out routine work,the boy’s body was found inside an 8 feet deep open sump chamber connected to a water pipeline in the area.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the sump had been left uncovered for several days,and the boy may have accidentally fallen into it while playing,leading to his death.
The police retrieved the body and shifted it to a hospital for post-mortem examination.The Family has filed a complaint with the police citing negligence of BWSSB workers led to the incident.
