One person was killed and at least 12 others were injured after a Mysuru–Raichur private bus of Sugama Travels met with an accident on the Agalagurki flyover on the Chikkaballapur bypass on Monday.
Senior officer visited the spot and said the accident occurred when the bus,which was carrying 28 passengers,attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided with a container truck from the side.
The impact resulted in injuries to 12 bus passengers, three of whom sustained serious injuries and were referred to hospitals in Bengaluru for advanced treatment.The remaining injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.
The container truck driver succumbed to injuries at the spot.No bus passenger fatalities were reported,police clarified.
Traffic on the busy bypass road was disrupted for some time following the accident,but was later cleared after the damaged vehicles were removed.
Chikkaballapur Superintendent of Police,Kushal Chowksey,visited the accident site and supervised the rescue and relief operations,officials said.
