Crackdown against growing misuse of emergency LED lights
Two-wheeler and four-wheeler riders in the city have been cautioned against using high-intensity lights and unauthorised additional lamps,as the Bengaluru Traffic Police will launch a special enforcement drive from January 7 to 13.
Senior officer told reporters that several motorists have been fitting vehicles with red,yellow and blue coloured lights and excessively bright headlights,causing inconvenience to other road users and increasing the risk of accidents and causing nuisance especially during night time .
To curb the menace and improve road safety,Joint Commissioner of Police,Traffic,Karthik Reddy directed his staff to conduct strict checks,register cases against violators and impose penalties during the drive.
As the direction was issued by Joint Commissioner of Traffic ,Karthik Reddy across city cops were seen enforcing and penalising the motorists found using illegally fitted Red and Blue Strobe flashing lights in Magadi Road,Kamakshipalya,Chamarajpet,Vijayanagar, Rajajinagar, Upparpet,Jnanabharathi traffic police station limits.
In the drive the traffic cops cracked the whip on more than 100 motorists and slapped a fine against them as per IMV a senior officer responding to drive said the drive will be continued to curb the menace of use of flashing lights and strobe lights and warns strict action to be taken and appeals to obey.
