Govindarajnagar police arrested Kannada tabloid editor for cheating woman of Rs.25 Lakhs promising to get her Posting in State Press Council

The Govindarajnagar police on Thursday arrested editor of city based Kannada tabloid for cheating a woman promising to get her posting in state press council .

Based on the complaint filed by Meenakshi B,the police track down the accused identified as Shivakumar T Nagara Navile from the Bengaluru international airport minutes before he tried to board a flight to Oman for a program.

Senior officer told reporters that the accused claiming to be president of the state press council,offered her the role of state president for women journalist council and took over ₹50,000 to get her to Singapore for in Vishishta Kannada Habba programmes for the year 2024 .

The accused later started asking financial help to organise the program and the victim lured by his charm paid a total of ₹25 lakh in different dates borrowing the money from her relatives and friends and even pawned her gold .

The cheating came to light when even after the program, the victim tried to reach Shivakumar he started threatening her with dire consequences when she started demanding money .

The victim further said that Shivakumar had cheated many people using similar tactics and needs to be probed.The police have seized the phone and taken him into custody for further investigation.
